Comments: English political poster published by National Union of Conservative and Constitutional Association, London. The poster refers to a an exchange between David Lloyd-George and Austin Chamberlain that took place in Parliament on 22nd. January 1910. Mr. Lloyd-George, in arguing against protectionism, stated that a Unionist victory would reduce the county to living on "black bread and horseflesh", like the peasants of Germany and Russia. The speech was wildly popular and was reported around the world. (thanks to Mr. John T. for the explanation!)
